StatsSA has just released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for July 2021, Annual consumer price inflation dropped for the second month in a row, down to 4,6%.
As CPI was 4,9% in June and 5,2% in May it is a clear indication that the economy has not restarted yet and the demand is still falling behind expectations. Any kind of lockdown is preventing such restart and therefore CPI will continue to drop, but will remain still in the agreed corridor of between 3% and 6% for a while.
