EFF leader Julius Malema is today delivering an application to the Constitutional Court to order the Speaker of Parliament to institute impeachment proceedings against President Jacob Zuma, the EFF has said in a statement.
The EFF’s application cites the president’s conduct associated with the Nkandla scandal and Zuma “lying to Parliament on numerous occasions”.
Malema is expected to file the application at the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein at 14:30 today. Tomorrow marks one year since the ConCourt handed down its judgment in the EFF’s Nkandla application.
“We approach the Constitutional Court as a last resort based on the belief that Zuma’s conduct around the Nkandla matter, both inside and outside of Parliament, renders him unfit to hold the high office of President of the Republic of South Africa.”
The EFF has demanded impeachment or disciplinary proceedings against Zuma.
